He is God, I am not
I used to have a tendency to receive instruction from the Lord, then “take it from there”. Doesn’t work. He has to be in and through every step as well in order for His plan to come to fruition. I now willingly submit in all areas of my life, not that I don’t make mistakes daily, but it’s easier to walk away when it is not Him, to spend more and more time at His feet just being quiet to hear Him, and quick to act on His instruction. It’s good to look back to see how far He has taken me, and to look forward to all that He has before me. I am soooo thankful that He is God, and I am not.
Ok, so my people tagged are:

A Dog’s Purpose (from a 6-year-old)
A veterinarian had been called to examine a ten-year-old Irish wolfhound named Belker. The dog’s owners, Ron, his wife, Lisa, and their little boy, Shane, were all very attached to Belker. He examined Belker and found he was dying of cancer. He told the family they couldn’t do anything for Belker, and offered to perform the euthanasia procedure for the old dog in their home. As they made arrangements, Ron and Lisa told him they thought it would be good for six-year-old Shane to observe the procedure. They felt as though Shane might learn something from the experience. The next day, he felt the familiar catch in his throat as Belker’s family surrounded him. Shane seemed so calm, petting the old dog for the last time, that, he wondered if he understood what was going on.
Within a few minutes, Belker slipped peacefully away. The little boy seemed to accept Belker’s transition without any difficulty or confusion. They sat together for a while after Belker’s death, wondering aloud about the sad fact that animal lives are shorter than human lives. Shane, who had been listening quietly, piped up, ‘I know why.’
Startled, we all turned to him. What came out of his mouth next stunned everyone. He said, ‘People are born so that they can learn how to live a good life – like loving everybody all the time and being nice, right?’ The six-year-old continued, ‘Well, dogs already know how to do that, so they don’t have to stay as long.’
Have a wonderful weekend.

Judging….uh, let’s not! May 6, 2008

I fell yesterday, uh actually I was way-layed by a ram I didn’t keep my eye on. He thought he was playing…I contemplated lamb stew for dinner…
I fall and fail at times in my walk as well..everyone does. One thing is for sure, and that is when I stumble in my walk with Christ, I know it. I usually don’t need to be told I’ve messed up. What I need is people who really love me waiting with hands extended to help me get up on my feet again. I need prayer and encouragement. I need to know that, when I am ready to talk about it, they will be there to listen. If I am in denial, let me know you are concerned.
If you think you are in a position to judge and hand out correction, look inside. If we are honest, we don’t have to dig too far down before we find things that we have to work on ourselves. Is there a time for correction? Yes, but not usually first thing. The more mature a Christian becomes, the more they realize their level of daily, even hourly dependence of Jesus to get through the day. Steven Curtis Chapman once did a song that spoke about living “the next five minutes”, and then starting over again. If you want a taste of humility, ask God to give you a glimpse into your heart. There is a side that wants to serve the Savior you love. And there is a side that is at war with the very idea that you can’t do just whatever you please to do. That’s the side that seeks its own way constantly that needs to be reined in and kept under control. This dark side of your heart might startle you a bit.
We will all stumble from time to time. People who never can admit to wrong or constantly justify actions need prayer. They are blind. The good news is that the “old man” the Bible speaks of representing that darker side of your heart is dying and will one day be removed as we enter Eternity. We will still be tempted in this life, but the power of sin and death were crushed at the crucifixion and the resurrection of Jesus Christ. The doorway to eternal life in Heaven is open again.
When someone falls, be there with a hand to help them up.
Terminology helps…. May 5, 2008

Mandy and Tam have had some quite inspiring videos lately….and have started a new MTTV video sequence. There are times when I’m listening to Mandy intently and still need to pause and ponder. This has caused me to do some research on speech patterns so that I can fully understand the depth of what Miss Mandy is trying to relay. I thought I would share my findings and supply some terms which I know will help all of us to understand the fullness of these videos.
What I have found so far:
Aggravated is used to describe everything from mild annoyance to dangerous, murderous rage. This is usual pronounced “agger-vated.” All swole up is an alternative to aggravated, but sometimes carries the connotation of being obstinate, proud and self-absorbed, in addition to being aggravated.
Fit to be tied is REALLY upset, and blinky is a term that describes sour milk. Dad blame it, dad gum it and dag nab it are expressive speech words without actually swearing. Turd floater and frog strangler are both terms used for heavy amounts of rain. (Had to get something in there for Tam)
Whole nuther thang means doing something else entirely, and when you’re walkin’ in tall cotton, you’re doin’ aw’right. Fixin’ ta means getting ready to do something, and larrupin’ is a few fingers tastier than finger-lickin’ good. Nu-uh is no and plug-ugly…well this is not a compliment. I’m sure there are many more…but these should help enlighten us a bit as we watch….I’m gonna go work on my twang…

I was having trouble with my computer, slowing down, email, yadda yadda….. so I call brother whose house looks like Mission Control…. He walks me through a couple of “things” to free some “stuff” up…and I asked him what was wrong with it.
He tells me it was an ID ten T error…. Not wanting to appear more stupid than I already did, I asked him what an ID ten T error was so I could fix it on my own…He told to write it down and I would figure it out…
so I did ….I D 1 0 T…..nice….I used to like my brother….
Faith of a child May 2, 2008

My son called today and said he was thinking about the song I wrote for him. Which one???? “Faith of a child,” he said. Stevie is now 22, but we had quite the adventure where in the course of less than a week he went from life, to near death, and completely healed. I’m still thanking God every day…every minute of every day. Here are the words..I’ll write the details another time…I’m glad it’s been recorded so I’ll never forget that faithfulness of God. Have a fantastic weekend!
Faith of a child
From the depths of my heart I thank you Lord for the gift of life, every breath, every beat of heart. I’m holdin’ on to memories of holdin’ on to You, alone and yet never apart. I remember prayi’n Lord, draw me close to you, I have a need only you can meet. I remember when I realized, he would be my trial, spare him Lord, take my life instead.
He said “Mom, hold on. Our God is faithful” He said “Mom, hold on, I’m comin back for you”. What a wonderous gift of love to see Gods own precious son, shine forever bright through the faith of a child.
On my knees I asked for love that only You could give, He’s yours my Lord, do what’s in your will. This gift you’ve given me, is only mine until he leaves, take him Lord and make my tremblin’ hands hold still.
He said “Mom, hold on, our God is faithful.” He said “Mom, hold on, I’m comin back for you”. What a wonderous gift of love to see Gods own precious Son shine forever bright through the faith of a child.
In the morning light I touched his face and sat down by his side, he took my hand and smiled at me, his eyes they opened wide.
He said “Mom, you held on, isn’t God faithful”. He said “Mom, you held on, He gave me back to you”. What a wonderous gift of love to see Gods own precious Son shine forever bright through the faith of a child. He’ll shine forever bright through the faith of a child.

Science and God……PT.II April 29, 2008

Staying with the science theme….I love Astronomy. Think my perfect night would be on a beach (warm) with a blanket away from everything just staring up at the sky. I’ve been doing a lot of reading lately about questions like “Where did such a vast amount of energy and matter originate?”……There have been many theories from science….most of the ones I have read seem to require a huge amount of faith to even continue with the train of thought.
To the believer the answer is clear….and the more we search Scripture the more we discover that God has provided more than ample evidence of the verity of His creative power..I think if it is reviewed without prejudice, it can convince even the hardest skeptic of intelligent design.
I wanted to look at Job 38: 31-32 – “Can you bind the cluster of the Pleiades, or loose the belt of Orion? Can you bring out Mazzaroth in its season? Or can you guide the Great Bear with its Cubs?”
With God relaying these things to Job I find it interesting that Dr. Robert Trumpler from the Lick Observatory would say: “Over 25,000 individual measures of the Pleiades stars are now available, and their study let to the important discovery that the whole cluster is moving in a southeasterly direction. The Pleiades stars may be compared to a swarm of birds, flying together to a distant goal. This leaves no doubt that the Pleiades are not a temporary or accidental agglomeration of stars, but a system in which the stars are bound together by a close kinship.”
Another astronomer Garrett Serviss wrote about the bands of Orion in his book Curiosities of the Sky. “At the present time this band consists of an almost perfect straight line, a row of second-magnitude stars about equally spaced and of the most striking beauty. In the course of time, however, the two right-hand stars, Mintaka and Alnilam, will approach each other and form a naked-eye double; but the third, Alnitak, will drift way eastward so that the band will no longer exist.” In other words, every star in Orion is traveling its own course, independent of all the others. These stars that we see forming one of the bands of Orion are like three ships out on the high seas that happen to be in line at the present moment, but are bound for different ports, and all are journeying to different corners of the universe so that the bands are being dissolved.
The vastness of the Heavens is just one aspect of our Creator’s grand design. Credulity is the acceptance of a thing without good reason, or sure evidence. Faith is the acceptance of a thing because we have indisputable evidence of its reality. Is that fair Ed? I still choose to live my life that “By faith we understand that the universe was prepared by the word of God, so that what is seen was made from the things that are invisible”. Hebrews 11:3 (ISV)
What things in you life to you just wish you had the answer for? Of course I welcome any input….smiles!
Science…and God…. April 27, 2008

My friend Robert has gotten me to look a little closer at science. There has been so much “anti-God” science, and “evolution” that I just banned it from my thought processes. There are various passages throughout the Bible where God does reveal things of scientific nature. Feel free to pick one of the following scriptures and expand on it….love to hear your thoughts on this. First, the earth is round, and the universe is expanding….
Isaiah 40:22 - He sits enthroned above the circle of the earth, and its people are like grasshoppers. He stretches out the heavens like a canopy and spreads them out like a tent to live in.
Isaiah 45:12 - “It is I who mae the earth and created manking upon it. My own hands stretched out the heavens; I marshaled their starry hosts.”
Second: The basic stages of the water cycle….
Job 36:27-28 - “He draws up the drops of water, which distill as rain to the streams; the clouds pour fddown their moisture and abundant showers fall on mankind.”
Ecclesiastes 1:6-7 - “The wind blows to the south and turns to the north; round and round it goes, ever returning on its course. All streams flow into the sea, yet the sea is never full. To the place the streams come from, there they return again.”
The ocean, my absolute favorite place to be remains for the most part mysterious and undiscovered. But the contour of the ocean floor is no longer a mystery. We know the bottom of the ocean is comprised of great mountain ranges, deep trenches, volcanoes, valleys…We take this knowledge for granted today…yet this information has only been verified in the past century. How is it possible then, that the Bible speaks of “valleys” existing beneath the sea?
2 Samuel 22:16 - “The valleys of the sea were exposed and the foundations of the earth laid bare at the rebuke of the Lord, at the blast of breath from his nostrils.”
Science and God can co-exist…I think it would have saved man alot of “discovery” time if they just would have been in Gods word….
